Jarvs Tasker now earns twice her teaching salary through gaming business

After chronic illness forced her to leave teaching in 2019, at 28, Jarvs Tasker now earns twice her former annual salary through Jarvs Indie Insights, her gaming-industry communications and marketing business.

After leaving teaching, Tasker initially volunteered for PlayStation's YouTube channel. She said managing a classroom and a gaming community draw on similar skills, and young people may not know the many routes into the industry. She attended a Game Anglia event at the University of Suffolk in Ipswich celebrating independent developers and studios in eastern England.

Game Anglia's Mark Backler said it was more possible than ever to develop and release an independent game, despite stiff competition. Game scout Omar Khalil identified visibility as a key challenge amid the large number of games available. Tasker said she believes players' dislike of AI helps the industry champion human creativity.
