After a user posted screenshots showing Instinct discussing a photo they said they had never sent and claiming it had “crossed into” their chat, founder Noah Shinn called the exchange a hallucination, saying no data breach occurred and no user data was shared.
The screenshots also appeared to show Instinct giving @prit4k someone else’s middle name and discussing a financial document with details the user said were not theirs. Shinn did not explain how he determined the exchange was a hallucination.
Shinn said his team had worked over the previous 48 hours on an active hallucination-detection system that could steer or intercept Instinct before it generated its next reasoning step or executed a tool call. He said he would share more in the coming weeks and cited isolated sandboxes, short-lived local credentials and identity-signed tool execution as privacy safeguards.
