Ian Happ said Thursday’s Cubs home finale against Miami could be his last regular-season game at Wrigley in a Chicago uniform. He is set for free agency after the playoffs and could return to Wrigley in October if the Cubs advance far enough.
Before the game, Happ told ESPN’s Jesse Rogers he wanted to savor the day, calling it “the last controllable day here” and recalling 10 years of memories. He praised Cubs fans as especially supportive.
Happ, 32, was drafted by Chicago in the first round in 2015 and has spent his entire major-league career with the Cubs. He entered Thursday with 24 home runs, 67 RBIs and a .221/.331/.418 slash line in 150 games, according to MLB statistics.
