Colleen Hoover says she would support an It Starts With Us film, but cannot greenlight it because she does not own the sequel’s film rights. Entertainment Weekly reports Justin Baldoni owns them; no adaptation plans had been announced by Sept. 25.
Hoover’s 2022 novel follows Lily after her separation from Ryle as she reconnects with Atlas while co-parenting. It is described as the second and final book in the series, with Atlas more central than in It Ends With Us.
The 2024 film, starring Blake Lively, Baldoni and Brandon Sklenar, grossed $351.4 million worldwide. Lively and Baldoni’s remaining legal claims were settled in May 2026; Hoover said the fallout had not changed her pride in the film and praised the cast’s work.
