After seeing “Primetime,” Chris Hansen said Robert Pattinson’s portrayal felt “detached from reality.” Asked which scenes did not happen in real life, he replied, “Almost every one of them,” and said he was unsure what the film’s point was.
Hansen had declined an early preview over what he called an overly restrictive agreement, later described as a standard preview-audience NDA. He also posted a 21-minute YouTube video with extended comments; the article said it had nearly 200,000 views in 13 hours.
Pattinson said he hoped the inspiration Hansen’s character had given people for years could make the role a kind of compliment. Director Lance Oppenheim said he likes Hansen and that the film was not intended as a hit piece.
