Former Trump aide Alyssa Farah Griffin called White House press limits a “complete self-own,” saying Trump needs media coverage and citing no pool footage of Xi Jinping’s arrival. A judge ordered credentials restored for CNN, MS NOW and Politico for 14 days.
U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly issued the order on Sept. 24. The outlets’ reporters were eventually allowed back onto White House grounds, but access to specific events remained in question; major television networks had suspended participation in the White House pool in solidarity with the outlets.
Trump criticized the networks on social media, claiming they refused to cover Xi’s arrival because they were “Fake News” and did not want him to receive credit. Griffin predicted Trump would eventually reverse course, arguing that he depends on media attention.
