After Ole Miss beat LSU 32-24 in Lane Kiffin’s return to Oxford, Rebels coach Pete Golding rejected Kiffin’s description of the matchup as Ole Miss’ “Super Bowl,” saying a September win would not define the season.
Kiffin left Ole Miss for LSU just before the College Football Playoff at the end of the 2025 season. He later approached Ole Miss about coaching the Rebels during their playoff run, but the program declined. Golding had been the team’s defensive coordinator before succeeding him as head coach.
Golding is in his first season as Ole Miss head coach, and the Rebels remain undefeated. Their next game is against Florida on Saturday at The Swamp.
