Rand and Leslie Bouldin challenge Germantown’s approval of Bodine School’s 25,980-square-foot expansion and its permit capping enrollment at 140. The Board of Mayor and Aldermen is set to consider their appeal Sept. 28; the couple says the approval may violate zoning rules.
The appeal centers on a rule requiring projects approved through a conditional-use permit to be on a street designated as major or collector. The Bouldins argue Yester Oaks Drive does not qualify. City director Cameron Ross said it was built to collector standards under an earlier road plan. A 2024 update recommended removing its collector status, citing no need for a planned connection to Poplar Avenue.
The plan includes four classrooms, an all-purpose space, a library, playground and student center with a gym, along with selected renovations. Total building space would reach roughly 44,000 square feet and school capacity would rise by 40 students. Proposed parking increases from 33 to 66 spaces and dismissal stacking from six to 43 vehicles. Residents also cite traffic, pedestrian safety and drainage concerns.
