Francisco Ivan Mendiola, 31, faces four charges after a deputy saw him fire a semiautomatic handgun from a Miami International Airport parking garage toward a terminal around 4 p.m. Sept. 23. Shots hit a trash can and an unoccupied car; no one was injured.
An arrest affidavit lists one felony count of shooting or throwing a deadly missile, one misdemeanor count of unlawfully discharging a firearm in a public place and two misdemeanor counts of criminal mischief.
Witnesses helped direct deputies to Mendiola, who was found sitting on a bench in the garage. The arrest report described him as homeless and “heavily intoxicated” at the time.
