Phillips Michael Tejeda Vásquez, Juan Carlos Hernández García, Kevin Dariel Germán Troncoso and Lawrence Mark Liranzo Marcos were arrested over the Sept. 21 attack on singer Julián Oro Duro’s home in Santo Domingo Este; his wife was killed and he was seriously injured.
Police identified the victim as 60-year-old Zeneida Socorro Castillo, wife of Gilberto Julián Sarante, known as Julián Oro Duro. Investigators say all four suspects had working or trusted links to his circle. Tejeda Vásquez, an air-conditioning technician who did private jobs at Sarante’s properties, may have contacted the others; Liranzo Marcos knew the family and worked at a villa Sarante was having built in Guerra.
Investigators say Castillo was tortured for six hours at the home before being killed. Sarante suffered traumatic head injuries and is recovering; police and prosecutors are continuing to gather evidence.
