Russian strikes killed five people in Kyiv on Friday, local authorities said; one was a 14-year-old boy killed in an earlier attack. Separately, authorities said a repeated strike on a postal facility in Odesa killed another person.
Kyiv has faced increasing drone and missile strikes in recent months. Russia has increasingly used newly developed jet-powered drones, some of which have bypassed Ukrainian interception systems, and has stepped up ballistic-missile attacks that Kyiv's air force struggles to stop.
Zelensky said Trump told him a final decision had been made and Ukraine would receive US licences to produce Patriot missiles. Establishing production capacity would take more than a year and would not meet Kyiv's immediate needs. Ukraine has reported an acute shortage of Patriot interceptors since supplies were diverted after the United States and Israel went to war with Iran in February.
