The family of Evanne Miller-Bettridge, who died aged 24 in April 2025 after a 2019 brain tumour diagnosis, wants more national cancer fundraising directed to brain tumour research. Her father estimates the field receives about 1% of national cancer funding.
Evanne began feeling unwell around Christmas 2018 and collapsed and began having seizures days later. She had surgery to remove part of the tumour, followed by seven weeks of chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Signs of regrowth appeared while she was studying for a master's in art; by late 2024, her father said it was spreading and little could be done.
After Evanne lost mobility in early 2025, she and her partner, Adam, brought forward their wedding and married in March, six weeks before her death. Her father, mother Vanessa and husband Adam are taking part in a Walk of Hope at Chatsworth to raise money for charity. Her family says about £22,000 has been raised for brain tumour research before and after her death.
