Euractiv will relaunch Tuesday as Rapporteur, CEO René Moerland told staff Monday, amid intensifying competition for comprehensive EU-politics coverage. He said the rebrand signals a commitment to journalism, with a focus on European decision-making.
Since Mediahuis acquired Euractiv in 2023, the Antwerp-based parent company has expanded the newsroom to 50 journalists and recruited writers from competitors. Moerland said Mediahuis’ European ownership and continental reach are advantages.
Founded in 1999, Euractiv has rebooted in recent years as a rival to Politico Europe, which formed a partnership with Axel Springer in 2015.
