Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes has been approved for halfway-house placement at the Austin Transitional Center in Del Valle, Texas, on Aug. 23, 2027, according to the Justice Department’s Victim Notification System. Her prison release is scheduled for Feb. 22, 2030.
Holmes was sentenced in 2022 to 11 years and 3 months in prison for defrauding investors with false claims about Theranos’ blood-testing technology. Her term was reduced to 10 years and 3 months following retroactive federal sentencing-guideline changes and earned time under the First Step Act.
The Bureau of Prisons said it does not discuss individual confinement conditions or release plans, and that specific facility-designation information is not released until after a person arrives. Last year, a federal appeals court upheld Holmes’s fraud convictions and a $452 million restitution order involving her and Theranos executive Ramesh “Sunny” Balwani.
