Disney+ has greenlit a “Darkwing Duck” reboot, with Mark Hamill voicing Drake Mallard, the crime-fighting duck. Seth Rogen, Lizzy Caplan and Lilimar also join the cast; the plot pairs Darkwing with Duckie, a rebellious teen who knows his heroic past.
The series’ premise puts Darkwing in an alternate world where nobody knows of his superhero exploits, after he has been trapped there for 35 years. Duckie draws him back into action, where they face enemies Negaduck and Megavolt and reunite with allies to save the universe.
The voice cast also includes Dan Stevens, Tiffany Shepis, Kathryn Newton, Teo Briones, Tyler Dean Flores, Katie Rich and Nat Faxon. The original series ran for 91 episodes on ABC from 1991 to 1992; Jim Cummings voiced Darkwing, Terence McGovern voiced Launchpad and Christine Cavanaugh voiced Gosalyn.
