Dick Morris urged Republicans to explain “socialism” before the midterms and outline what he says Democrats would do if they win Congress. He questioned a Wall Street Journal poll: 60% of registered voters said Trump’s policies worsened the economy; 25% said they improved it.
Morris cited what he described as the lowest poverty rate ever, one of the lower inflation rates and a homicide rate not seen since 1900. He acknowledged elevated gasoline prices tied to the ongoing Iran conflict, which he said had muddled Trump’s message on inflation.
As examples of what he called Democratic priorities, Morris said Democrats would eliminate private health insurance, loosen immigration enforcement, abolish ICE and raise taxes. He also said they would probably reimpose taxes on Social Security benefits, which he said Trump had repealed.
