DHS denied a Daily Wire report that ICE agents were told to arrest only people in the country illegally with criminal charges or convictions. The department said “no one is off the table” and that anyone in the U.S. illegally would be arrested and deported.
DHS also said ICE had initiated a nationwide “public safety surge” in sanctuary cities, where officers would target people it described as “criminal illegal aliens.” The department claimed many had been released from jails by “sanctuary politicians” and listed murderers, rapists, child predators and gang members among those it said would be targeted.
