Detroit police investigate claim Kimberly Moore was cremated before funeral

Detroit police are investigating after Kimberly Moore’s family said they were told Hutchinson Funeral Home had cremated the 61-year-old before her planned funeral, then showed them another woman in Moore’s clothes and wig. The home apologized and opened an internal review.

Moore’s daughter Bianca Robinson said the other woman lacked a mole on her toe, helping confirm she was not her mother. The family was also trying to locate the woman’s relatives; Moore’s funeral had been scheduled for Saturday, but the family had not decided how to proceed.
