Democrats demand the White House pull a taxpayer-funded ad promoting President Trump, arguing it violates a federal ban on government propaganda. The White House calls it a public-service announcement, not a political ad, ahead of the Nov. 3 midterms.
Trump says in the video, “Together we will defeat communism, socialism and Marxism in America once and for all,” over JMSN’s “Love Me.” The spot also promotes tax cuts, manufacturing, law and order, and the claim that America will never be communist. AdImpact estimated $14,000 in spending; it ran on Fox News and Newsmax, while CBS reported multiple 30- and 60-second government-funded spots on broadcast TV.
Four Democratic appropriators wrote Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, citing the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2026, which they say bars taxpayer funds from producing government propaganda. A White House official said Trump is not on the Nov. 3 ballot and the spots have no call to action; a spokesperson called them educational and patriotic. The ad identifies itself as “Paid for by the U.S. Government.” GAO has previously found some taxpayer-funded messaging under Republican and Democratic administrations violated federal restrictions; it says concealing the government's role is central to a covert-propaganda finding.
