Clemson beat California 24-10 in Berkeley on Friday, powered by 253 rushing yards and a defense that limited Cal to 231 total yards. Freshman Gideon Davidson ran for 159 yards and two touchdowns, including a 75-yard score with less than three minutes left.
Bryant Wesco returned a punt 65 yards for a third-quarter touchdown, Clemson’s first punt-return score in nearly eight years. Cal quarterback Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele finished with 119 passing yards and was intercepted twice.
Freshman quarterback Tait Reynolds, making his second career start, completed 13 of 21 passes for 108 yards and rushed for 28. Clemson is 3-1 overall and 2-0 in the ACC after consecutive conference wins; Miami visits Memorial Stadium next Saturday.
