Cleveland High beat Crenshaw 24-18 Friday to reach 5-0 despite rushing for just over 200 yards, below its 258-yard average. Crenshaw fell to 4-2; Ethan Grant threw two touchdowns in his season debut, but three dropped passes on the final drive ended the Cougars’ comeback hopes.
Crenshaw led 18-14 at halftime, but senior running back Moyosoreoluwa Odebunmi scored his second touchdown on Cleveland’s first play of the second half, a 32-yard run. Cobe Green added a safety early in the fourth quarter; Crenshaw managed only two first downs after halftime.
Cleveland coach Mario Guzman said his team was undisciplined in the first half, then challenged itself at halftime to play with discipline, physicality and speed. He said the Cavaliers responded in the second half.
