The CQC says care at Brantwood Hall in Wakefield worsened further in July, putting residents at risk of harm. It rated the home inadequate and took further action against its owners. Restrictions have kept the home from admitting new residents since February.
Inspectors said the home lacked dementia-friendly resources and activities, did not consistently support residents' independence, and did not always maintain dignity. They found one person without bedding or a pillow and heard staff refer to residents by room number. The CQC said a previously raised concern about a neglected and isolated resident persisted: inspectors were told the person was always in their room, and their mobility had deteriorated. Two earlier staffing and governance breaches remained unresolved; two more were identified in July.
Brantwood Hall supports 29 residents, some living with dementia. Its owner, Roseberry Care Centres, said it appointed a new manager and added staff training and activities after the July inspection. The company acknowledged the seriousness of the concerns, apologized that care fell short of expected standards, and said safe, respectful, person-centred care remained its priority.
