Florida State beat FCS Central Arkansas 34-7, but an SB Nation column says the win did little to build confidence: Central Arkansas held the ball for over 39 minutes and ran 25 more plays. Games against Virginia, Louisville, Miami and Clemson loom.
FSU scored on each of its first four possessions to lead 24-0 and averaged 8.7 yards per play. Its defense allowed 3.4 yards per play and forced just one three-and-out. Florida State also beat New Mexico State 34-17 in Week 0.
The columnist writes that Mike Norvell needs to fare well over the next month or so to have a chance to remain head coach, and says it would be a surprise if he were still in charge when FSU visits Boston College on Nov. 7.
