The Milwaukee Brewers named Christian Yelich team captain on Sept. 26, making him the first player in franchise history to wear the captain’s “C” on his jersey. The team said he would wear it that night and going forward.
Manager Pat Murphy said Yelich asked for Robin Yount’s blessing before taking the role because he regarded Yount as the Brewers’ first captain. Murphy said Yount agreed.
MLB.com’s Adam McCalvy reported that Yelich is one of three active MLB captains, alongside Aaron Judge of the Yankees and Salvador Perez of the Royals.
