At the New York Film Festival premiere of “Misty Green,” Chris Rock said love and family—not Hollywood success—define “making it.” Rock also said infidelity is part of life beyond show business; his character, a director, bonds with Rosalind Eleazar’s actress over it.
“Misty Green” follows Misty, a fictional actress played by Eleazar, as she tries to revive her career after years of decline. Rock plays a director who previously had her removed from a “Cinderella” remake. It is Eleazar’s first feature-film lead; she said the story also reflects workers in other industries who face long periods without work.
Made on a $5 million budget, the film also stars Adam Driver, Daniel Kaluuya, Anna Kendrick and Topher Grace. Rock said filming in Los Angeles helped him assemble the cast, and that tax incentives would help him make more movies there.
