Country singer Chayce Beckham released his EP “Old Fashioned” on Sept. 25, reflecting on nostalgia and life’s small pleasures. He says marriage inspired him to write love songs for the first time, after usually focusing on heartbreak in his music.
Beckham said the title began as an idea for a song about his favorite cocktail but became a reflection on everyday things that are fading. The EP includes “Dirt Floor” and “Take Me Home,” which explore romance. He and his wife, Ashley Britt, have been together on and off since he was 17 and recently celebrated their first wedding anniversary.
Beckham said success now means less to him than time with loved ones and enjoying activities such as fishing. He said having more possessions brings more problems and has made him want to live more simply.
