Cal Raleigh called the Mariners’ 2026 season a “collective failure,” citing poor defense, road play and hitting with runners in scoring position. He said injuries were no excuse and that players and the organization must address the problems this offseason.
Raleigh said Seattle needs more bullpen depth and pitchers capable of getting strikeouts; starters also need to adjust to opponents he described as attacking from the first pitch. He said the established core must improve alongside any new additions, put the team’s record in one-run games at around .500, and said the Mariners failed to improve in areas where they were deficient.
