Ivanka Trump sat with her 15-year-old daughter, Arabella, and Vice President JD Vance and his wife in the front row for Chinese President Xi Jinping’s White House remarks Thursday; Cabinet secretaries were seated farther from the podium, prompting online criticism.
Ivanka Trump, now a private citizen, served as an unpaid adviser during her father’s first term, focusing on economic development and education. In 2022, she said she did not plan to be involved in politics, citing a desire to prioritize her children and private life. She has since attended other high-level events with her father, including a state dinner for King Charles in April.
Newsmax host Greta Van Susteren questioned the seating arrangement on X, saying Ivanka had a better seat than Cabinet secretaries Marco Rubio and Scott Bessent. The Independent said it had contacted the White House for comment.
