Buffalo’s DJ Moore is a game-time decision with a shoulder injury, but if active, he’s a better Week 3 fantasy start than Khalil Shakir against the Chargers. Moore’s downfield role gives him more upside; Shakir has seven catches for 88 yards and no touchdowns through two games.
Moore led Buffalo with a 24.1% target share, a 33.3% first-read share and three deep targets in Week 1, when he caught five passes for 100 yards and a touchdown. He injured his left shoulder in the second quarter against Detroit in Week 2. After being limited Wednesday and sitting out Thursday, he returned Friday in a red non-contact jersey. He still must pass shoulder-stability and simulated-contact tests. Coach Joe Brady said he would wait until game time on Moore and Keon Coleman.
Shakir has a 20% target share but has run a route on only 58.6% of Buffalo’s pass plays; his six targets in each game did not increase when Moore left against Detroit. The Chargers have allowed the eighth-most yards per target and fourth-most fantasy points per opportunity to perimeter receivers, where Moore mostly lines up. They have also allowed the seventh-most yards per target to slot receivers. The article views Shakir as a flex option in deeper PPR leagues.
