Blake Snell pitched four shutout innings with three strikeouts and no walks in the Dodgers’ 4-3 win over the Giants Saturday, his first start since exiting against Cincinnati on Sept. 16. Ohtani has played four games since returning from the injured list.
Snell said his groin felt great and his velocity was good, but he was inconsistent. He said he welcomed at least a week to get his body right before October.
Manager Dave Roberts said he hoped Ohtani’s recent performances would continue, citing a first-pitch slider from Robbie Ray that Ohtani took for a ball to reach a good count. Roberts said Ohtani had been swinging and chasing in recent weeks. Dylan Hernandez reported that Roki Sasaki and Tanner Scott are locks for the postseason bullpen; Scott said the assigned role matters less than winning every game. The Dodgers close the regular season Sunday against San Francisco seeking their first 100-win season since 2023.
