Apple TV’s “Brothers,” starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, premiered with two episodes Sept. 23. By Wednesday midday, Rotten Tomatoes’ critics’ score was 55% from 29 reviews; the site’s critics’ consensus and audience ratings were still pending.
The comedy casts the longtime friends as fictionalized versions of themselves. Their characters learn they are half-brothers after McConaughey’s mother accidentally reveals a family secret. Some reviewers praised the leads’ chemistry, while others called the series self-indulgent or aimless.
The eight-episode season releases Wednesdays at 3 a.m. ET/12 a.m. PT. Episodes 1 and 2 arrived Sept. 23; the remaining episodes are scheduled weekly from Sept. 30 through Nov. 4. Titles for episodes 4–8 had not been announced.
