Elisha Brabin, 36, and her children Leo, 16, Ellis, 8, and Prudence, 7, died in an early-morning house fire in Bootle, Merseyside, on Sept. 22. Neighbors tried to rescue them, a local resident told the BBC; the cause remains under investigation.
Fire crews were dispatched to Stone Square at 3:38 a.m. and arrived seven minutes later to find the house well alight, Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service said. Firefighters found the four family members in an upstairs bedroom without signs of life; ambulance specialists later confirmed their deaths. The service also said one person found outside was taken to hospital with burns.
In a statement shared by police, the family said they were devastated and described Brabin as a devoted mother who “lived for her children.”
