BlackBerry's fiscal Q2 revenue rose 26% year over year to $163.3 million, and automotive software unit QNX set a record at $80.3 million, up 27%. Adjusted EBITDA rose 81% to $47 million; the company raised its fiscal 2027 outlook for sales and adjusted EBITDA.
BlackBerry estimates QNX software is integrated into more than 275 million cars worldwide. The company said QNX secured its first design win for Alloy Kore, a platform for software-defined vehicle development, and management called it the largest in QNX history. Reports after the results identified the customer as Coretura, a commercial-vehicle software joint venture sponsored by Daimler Truck and Volvo Group, and said the win adds more than $100 million to QNX's royalty backlog. Revenue from such wins may take years to materialize as vehicles enter production.
BlackBerry recorded $33.9 million in GAAP net income, its sixth straight profitable quarter, and operational cash flow of $29.3 million, up from $3.4 million a year earlier. Its Secure Communications division had revenue of $60.9 million, up 2%, and flat annual recurring revenue of $221 million; adjusted EBITDA fell 18% to $8 million.
