Microsoft unveiled Autopilot, a redesigned Copilot package combining chat, coding and AI-agent tools. CEO Satya Nadella says earning users’ trust—especially over credentials and control during autonomous tasks—is the biggest issue for Microsoft's AI efforts.
Microsoft says the software will automatically direct prompts to the best available model from OpenAI or Anthropic, while allowing users to choose a model themselves. The company plans to add models from other providers. It describes the package as a work hub for tasks such as drafting pitch documents and spreadsheets, with AI able to analyze spreadsheet data.
The service offers per-user plans for general AI work and pay-as-you-go billing for lengthy, multistep AI-agent tasks. Microsoft says most users will not reach the per-seat option’s token limits. Nadella said the combination should support broad access and align the offering with customer value as model makers and providers gradually reduce customer subsidies.
