Colorado fell 23-13 at Baylor on Saturday and is 2-2 after Deion Sanders benched quarterback JuJu Lewis at halftime. Backup Isaac Wilson tied the game with a fourth-quarter touchdown, but Baylor answered with a touchdown and a 54-yard field goal.
Wilson’s 17-yard touchdown pass to Joseph Williams came with 11:04 left and tied the score at 13. Lewis had completed 11 of 16 passes for 75 yards; Sanders said he had not decided who would start next week and urged reporters not to give up on Lewis.
After Colorado’s 41-7 loss at Northwestern, Sanders removed three players from the team but declined to identify them. Linebacker Tyler Martinez, one of Colorado’s top defensive players, injured a leg against Baylor. Colorado hosts Texas Tech on Oct. 3.
