Barrhead’s Balgray station starts 30-minute Glasgow service

BBC

The £18.3m Balgray station has opened in Barrhead, with its first train reaching the new East Renfrewshire stop at about 08:50. Trains will run every 30 minutes to Glasgow Central, calling at Whitecraigs, Mount Florida and Cathcart.

An 80-space car park with electric-vehicle charging points and new walking routes to homes and local paths were built alongside the station. The station is also expected to make nearby Dams to Darnley Country Park easier to reach.

The project was delivered ahead of schedule and within budget. Funding came through the Glasgow City Region city deal: £7.87m each from the UK and Scottish governments, and £2.57m from East Renfrewshire Council.
