Floodwaters receded in parts of Bangkok on Sunday after rain eased, but residents in some neighborhoods remained stranded. The capital was declared a disaster-affected area after nearly 300 mm of rain fell in 48 hours, flooding major roads and homes.

Arita Sanpoka said her home had waist-high water, and two neighbors in their 80s remained stranded because they could not get downstairs. Power was cut on the ground floor and the bathroom was unusable, she said. Delivery rider Rachthanichporn Leeput said flooding cut her income; she walked 2–3 km through water to buy and resell supplies to make up for lost earnings.

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration said 233 temporary shelters had been prepared and about 4,200 people were using them. It said rain would be lighter after a low-pressure system moved west, but several major canals remained high as water flowed in from surrounding areas. Authorities were pumping water and assisting residents; the weather agency forecast widespread thunderstorms and isolated heavy rain for Monday.
