Taylor Swift arrived at the 2026 MTV VMAs on Sept. 27 with a muted-pink lip, shorter wing and subtle liner beneath her lower lashes, rather than her usual red lipstick and dramatic wing. She was set to receive the first-ever Artist Director Honors.
According to a press release, the new honor recognizes music artists whose behind-the-camera work has expanded music-video possibilities and advanced visual storytelling. Swift won Best Direction at the VMAs for her 2020 solo directorial debut, “The Man,” and three VMAs plus a Grammy for 2021’s “All Too Well: The Short Film.”
Swift also had 11 nominations, including Video of the Year for “The Fate of Ophelia,” Best Direction for “Opalite,” Best Album for The Life of a Showgirl and Artist of the Year.
