Aspen/Pitkin County Airport in Colorado reopened at 4:03 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, after an email threat concerning airport property led to an evacuation and a multi-agency search. About 55 passengers and 40 workers were evacuated; no injuries were reported.
The airport said several staff members received the email at about 1:30 p.m.; CBS News reported the evacuation occurred around 2:30 p.m. Authorities inspected the airport’s interior and exterior before clearing it. Colorado Highway 82 stayed open, and officials advised affected passengers to check with their airlines for delays or schedule changes.
