According to Yahoo Finance, Apple shares hit an intraday record of $345.34 on Sept. 23, then closed at $339.75, less than a month after John Ternus became CEO. Shares were up 25% for the year, and Apple's market value was just under $5 trillion.
The stock's rise followed the Sept. 9 launch of the iPhone Duo, Apple's first foldable phone. Preorders begin Oct. 16 and shipping starts Oct. 23; prices range from $1,999 to $3,199. Deepwater Asset Management's Gene Munster estimated the phone could account for 10% of iPhone revenue next year, even with relatively limited sales. Analysts expect about 6 million units in its first cycle.
Evercore ISI analyst Amit Daryanani said iPhone 18 demand was holding up in its first week, while cautioning that supply constraints may inflate early sales data. Pro shipping times extended more slowly than for the iPhone 17 Pro in 2025, which some analysts read as weaker early demand; standard models appeared to be tracking better. Apple's Q4 results are due Oct. 29. Investors are also watching its iOS 27 Siri overhaul; the shares trade at nearly 39 times earnings.
