In an unexpected encounter, Fragola recommends keeping the shark in view, checking nearby water for other sharks and making eye contact rather than turning away or fleeing. If it keeps approaching, she says to use fins or an extended camera pole to maintain space, avoid splashing and stay as calm as possible.
Fragola says physical contact should be a last resort and warns that using hands is risky because a shark can turn quickly. She advises against seeking shark encounters without proper experience or an experienced guide who understands shark behavior.
