The South Side Farmers Market held its final event of the season Sunday, closing for winter after offering Pittsburgh shoppers local food, handmade goods and flowers. Organizers are expected to bring the market back next spring.
The weekly market brought farmers, food producers, artists and makers to Pittsburgh's South Side. Shoppers could find baked bread, eggs, locally grown produce, jewelry, glass artwork and flowers for custom bouquets.
Located among homes and businesses on a South Side commercial corridor, the market gave residents access to locally sourced goods in their neighborhood. Vendors said markets also provide a place to sell their products and build relationships with customers.
