Alleigha Botner testified Sept. 23 that Caleb Flynn repeatedly said he wanted his wife, Ashley, dead during their nearly two-year affair. Flynn is on trial over Ashley’s Feb. 16 killing in Tipp City, Ohio, and has pleaded not guilty to murder and other charges.
Botner said she met Flynn in 2022 at the Christian Life Center, where he was a worship pastor, and initially did not know he was married because he wore no wedding ring. She testified their affair began in March 2024 and they got matching lightning-bolt tattoos for their shared love of Harry Potter; Flynn put his in his armpit so Ashley would not see it. Flynn faces charges of murder, aggravated murder, felonious assault, tampering with evidence and witness intimidation.
Botner testified she gave Flynn a final deadline to leave Ashley in January 2026, then stopped communicating with him until Feb. 14. Prosecutors said Flynn texted her hours before Ashley’s killing: “I choose you. I’m free. Actions will come tomorrow, February 16, a day I’ll never forget.” Prosecutors also cited a message in which he allegedly wrote that he was trying to think of ways to kill Ashley.
