ResoundingJoy Church in Colerain Township marks its first anniversary after three congregations merged. It offers neighbors non-food and clothing assistance, music training for young people and is starting work with local high schools to involve students.
The merger combined Northwest Community Church, Pleasant Run Presbyterian Church and Greenhills Community Presbyterian Church. The congregation kept Northwest’s building at 8735 Cheviot Road beside Colerain High School; aging congregations and buildings were among the reasons for merging. After the 10:30 a.m. worship service Sunday, Sept. 27, the Colerain Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon-cutting and ice cream social.
The Cincinnati Music Ensemble, led by music director Brad Caldwell and Howard Helvey, offers community concerts and training for young people. Winton Woods students in its program have joined the church choir and entered college music programs through vocal and, in some cases, instrumental training. Pastor Edward Goode hopes to invite students who wait in the church parking lot after school for rides inside to stay somewhere warm and safe.
