A month after stopping Moses Itauma in round nine, Filip Hrgovic says he feels his late father’s presence. The win made him Croatia’s first world heavyweight champion; Hrgovic says Itauma could be hard to beat if he recovers mentally.
Hrgovic dedicated the victory to his father, who died four years ago and had been his biggest supporter. He said he believes in God, Jesus, the resurrection and life after death.
Hrgovic is eyeing unification fights. He says he will be in London in October to watch Daniel Dubois defend the WBO belt against Fabio Wardley in a rematch. He also cited rumors that matchmaker Turki Alalshikh wants him to defend his title against Rico Verhoeven on the undercard of the Anthony Joshua-Tyson Fury fight mooted for Cardiff in December.
