The Nepal National Mountain Guides Association said two climbing guides were found dead and 14 kitchen staff remain missing after an avalanche struck Himlung Himal’s base camp early Sunday. The search continued Monday after bad weather delayed rescue flights.
A four-person rescue team traveled by helicopter toward the mountain Sunday and reached Phu village, planning to resume the search Monday morning. The association said four more rescuers were waiting at the airport to be sent to the area.
