Florida father Jeremy Scott, 47, says he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s on September 12 and now struggles with memory and word-finding. He said a 2021 brain hemorrhage and six-day coma complicated the picture; he has begun speech therapy and cognitive rehabilitation.
Before his diagnosis, Scott underwent cognitive testing, MRIs, blood tests and other neurological tests. He recalled that a couple of years earlier at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, he searched throughout the resort for a water bottle, then found it in plain sight in his room. Later, he noticed losing his train of thought and struggling to follow conversations.
Scott said he can still work, drive and live independently, and that stress or feeling overwhelmed worsens his symptoms. He is documenting his experience on social media and says Alzheimer’s affects people differently and has stages.
