Retro and Rad owner Kelly Donnelly says her New Cumberland shop is seeing more demand for physical games and movies amid concerns that digital movies may be removed when licenses expire and games may stop working if servers shut down.
The report says Sony announced earlier in 2026 that it would end production of physical copies in 2028. It also says Sony has removed customers’ previously purchased movies as the company’s licenses expired.
State Sen. John Kane introduced legislation that would require companies to notify customers when deleting titles and offer full refunds. Kane said shutting down servers or changing licensing terms can make a purchased game stop working, leaving customers without a fallback.
