Authorities took a 14-year-old boy into custody in connection with the fatal shooting of 15-year-old Spring ISD student Royce Witchet outside Westfield High School, less than a day after the killing. Officials have not disclosed what led to the shooting.
The sheriff's office said the 14-year-old is also believed to be a Spring ISD student but did not provide further identifying details. Westfield remained open Wednesday, and the district said security might be heightened because of the ongoing investigation.
