Former Houston Oilers cornerback Zeke Moore, a 1970 Pro Bowl selection who spent all 11 of his NFL seasons with the team, died Tuesday at 82. He started 102 of 145 games from 1967 through 1977, finishing with 24 interceptions and two touchdowns.
Houston selected Moore in the fifth round, 127th overall, of the 1967 AFL-NFL draft. As a rookie return specialist, he took 14 kickoffs for 405 yards and a touchdown. The Oilers reached the AFL Championship Game that season but lost to the Oakland Raiders.
Moore earned AFL All-Star honors in 1969. Fans later selected him for the Oilers’ 30th Anniversary Dream Team in 1989; Lincoln University inducted him into its Athletics Hall of Fame in 2011. He also served for five years as a Houston Texans ambassador.
